How You Can Help!

Students absolutely cannot learn if they are sick, experiencing trauma, and/or in pain. We know this. And still, for far too many children throughout Los Angeles, access to medical care, be it physical, mental, or oral, is hard to come by. The L.A. Trust for Children’s Health (The L.A. Trust), founded in 1991, has made it its mission to change that.  We strive to improve student health and educational outcomes by providing access on school campuses to integrated health care services (with a focus on prevention and early intervention) for the children, families, and communities of Los Angeles.Through The L.A. Trust’s efforts, 14 new school-based “Wellness Centers” have recently opened across the city on Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) school campuses, bringing access to physical, mental and oral health services to the L.A. neighborhoods with the greatest health disparities and least resources.

In partnership with trusted community health care providers at each site, as of November 2015, these beautiful, new, state of the art, school-based Wellness Centers have provided care to more than 110,000 visitors. And because they are also open to the community members around the schools, these Wellness Centers hold the promise to affect population health, lifting entire areas of the city.

…Or, if you are a LAUSD Employee, you can contribute via a payroll deduction

With your monthly or bi-monthly contribution of $2, $5, $10, $25 or more through payroll deduction, the Trust can strategically plan ways to leverage dollars and support programs aligned with our strategic goals.  Your investment in the L.A. Trust through the “Sharing Brings Hope” campaign is directly returned to LAUSD students, parents, teachers, staff, and schools through vital programs and initiatives. Without your support the L.A. Trust is unable to provide the necessary discretionary and emergency funds to school health programs. Investments in the campus-wide student engagements activities and teacher stipends are being provided directly to campuses because of the generosity of Combined Charitable Campaign contributors.

For over a decade, the Sharing Brings Hope Consolidated Charitable Campaign has raised donations in your schools and offices. Every Spring, LAUSD’s staff, teachers, and students, and their families contribute time, passion, and donations to the Sharing Brings Hope Campaign. LAUSD employees are generous, giving to people who really care about their schools, their communities, and the people who live in them.

The Sharing Brings Hope Campaign joins together the most respected, prominent, and effective charitable agencies and federations in Greater Los Angeles, which funds over 400 local charities that provide programs and services in the areas of education, health, social services, and environmental services. Four of the participating agencies were founded by LAUSD staff.
